Hanergy contributes to Dutch city Zevenaar’s greener future
The municipality of Zevenaar, Netherlandsis going green with the help of Hanergy, the world’s leading thin-film solar power company. Recently, 300kWp’s Hanergy thin-film solar modules, manufactured by Hanergy’s US subsidiary MiaSolé, have been installed on Zevenaar’s City Hall. The system will reduce approximately 300 tons of CO2 emission per year.
This is the first part of Hanergy’s 600kWp PV project in Zevenaar. The project is executed by Energie van Hollandsche Bodem and solar system installer Sunprojects.
Zevenaar’s City Hall is located in a former British American Tobacco factory. “Sustainability is a priority on our agenda,” said Alderman Tienke van de Werf. “It is important for everyone, the municipality, citizens and companies. So also the coming years Zevenaar will focus on energy saving and green energy production. Half of the installation is for City Hall energy consumption, the other half is made available for local citizens without a roof fit for solar modules, so we work together on a greener future.”
Sunprojects’ Hans Lambrecht said, “It’s fantastic to be able to make a monument green together with Hanergy and help the municipality reach their sustainability goals and provide a suitable solution for local consumers as well.”
Hanergy has been making rapid progress in the European market, signing several major deals during the past months. In the Netherlands, Hanergy has reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar on a rooftop PV project for the football club’s AFAS Stadium; it is working with solar power service provider Rooftop Energy to install thin-film solar modules on the rooftop of Plantion, the largest market place for florists, commercial gardeners and retailers in the country. Hanergy has also signed a one-year agreement to provide 400kW MiaSolé flex thin-film solar modules to Virte Solar, a subsidiary of Finnish metal roof manufacturer Virte Metal Corporation. Meanwhile, Hanergy is in cooperation with Italian PV installer TES Energia to install a total capacity of 320kW MiaSolé modules on three fire stations” rooftops in southern Italy.
