Why LI Keqiang came to Hanergy booth
At this critical juncture, the Chinese State Council leaders came to visit Hanergy booth. This is a shot in the arm to the wiped-out Hanergy image sending a very important signal: Hanergy will not be closed, the State still supports Hanergy.
On 19th October, the Prime Minister LI Keqiang, the Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central, Vice Prime Minister ZHANG Gaoli visited Hanergy’s booth during the first “National Public Entrepreneurial Innovation Week”. They highly praised Hanergy’s whole-solar-powered car and other products.

As we all know, since May 20 of this year, Hanergy has had severe capital market crisis. At this critical juncture, the Chinese State Council leaders came to visit Hanergy booth. This is a shot in the arm to the wiped-out Hanergy image sending a very important signal: Hanergy will not be closed, the State still supports Hanergy.

LI Keqiang asked in detail about the Hanergy SolarPower car and said: “well done, I wish you success.” Vice Prime Minister ZHANG Gaoli said：“Incredible” when he saw Hanergy SolarPower car and solar UAV, and he encouraged Hanergy to keep developing mobile energy products. Beijing CCP Secretary GUO Jinlong, State Council member and Secretary-General YANG Jing, Minister of Science and Technology WAN Gang, China’s Central Bank governor ZHOU Xiaochuan and other interested parties also visited Hanergy booth.

In fact, although Hanergy is in capital market crisis, Chinese Government never stopped support Hanergy making no secret of it.On June 25, Chinese Academy of Social Science awarded Hanergy Holding Group the Innovation Award for the best business model. On 2 July, Hanergy Clean Energy Exhibition Center has been certified by China Association of Science as “National Popularization of Science Education Base”. On 9 September, Jordan King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein visited Hanergy Holding Group’s headquarters in Beijing.
These activities, are initiated by the private sector, or by official arrangements, revealed such a clear message: Hanergy’s capital market crisis didn’t affect the confidence of the Government in the development of Hanergy. The visits of the Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister added such a powerful footnote to this confidence.

The confidence of the Government in Hanergy is mainly for the following reasons:
- To demonstrate its support to the clean energy industry represented by Hanergy.
After Hanergy’s stock plunge, Yingli Solar was also rumored with financial difficulties. There were a lot of people in the industry doubted on the development of clean energy in China. Actually, CCP Central Committee, State Council are determined on the development of clean energy, on the improvement of environment and climate. The leaders showed their support to Hanergy helping the public to better understand the situation.
- To award Hanergy’s years of investment in the research and promotion of new solar technology.
As we all know, Hanergy is doing R&D, production of thin-film photovoltaic and mobile energy products. Its technology has a leading position. We can say Hanergy as an enterprise, was alone to bear a very important sector’s research and iterative cost for the whole Country.

Hanergy’s embarrassment, to some extent, is “product not in production yet, but might already lag in technology”. For a large Country like China, if a new technology cannot be in market, it will never be localized; but once a technology is in market, there will be the iterative cost that can even be more that billions of money. The good news is, after Hanergy, China Building Material Group announced to spend several hundred million yuan on thin-film solar production – finally, the national team!
- Recognize Hanergy’s serious reflection on its problems and the efforts to overcome difficulties.
As we know, during the last 6 months, Hanergy did a lot of adjustments in all aspects. Hanergy’s Chairman of Board LI Hejun in his last speech, did an overall reflection on the existent problems. It can be said that, Hanergy is moving in the right direction, it deserves our encouragement and support.
While we are pleased for Hanergy’s achievements, we shall also be aware of the fact that its crisis is not over yet. Government’s support cannot transform automatically into cash flow for the company. There are still gaps between the R&D, production and marketing links. The corporate structure, decision-making procedures, corporate culture are still need to be changed.
These problems, some need time to be resolved, while others require great wisdom. The old industrial enterprise management methods for the new energy industry that represented by new forces, will sooner or later be stretched, which is already obvious.
The best wish from Prime Minister to Hanergy was made earnestly. All supports from the society are as before. China’s clean energy sector needs Hanergy. Wish Hanergy the rebirth and a brilliant future.
